Louisiana Music #1 is devoted entirely to the story of Nathan Abshire and the original Pine Grove Boys. The 16,000 word article (supplemented by a nine page discography) was researched and written by Lyle Ferbrache and Andrew Brown over the course of four years. Lyle Ferbrache has been researching Cajun music for over 10 years, and possesses one of the world's finest collections of original Cajun music 78s and 45s. He is producing Bear Family's forthcoming reissue of J.D. Miller's Feature/Fais-Do-Do labels. Andrew Brown has written on roots music for Bear Family, Norton, and Krazy Kat Records, and most recently contributed to House of Hits: The Story of Houston's Gold Star/Sugar Hill Recording Studios by Roger Wood and Andy Bradley (University of Texas Press) and Lightnin' Hopkins: His Life and Blues by Alan Govenar (forthcoming from Chicago Review Press).
